Alton Day of Renewal Monthly Meetings ("ADORE")

This monthly meeting of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal was formed after spiritual discernment by the original core group in 1975 and it has been blessed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit ever since. We are now one of the longest continually running Charismatic Days of Renewal in Britain. For more information please follow this link:- .

Called and Gifted

God is calling you to a unique purpose in life, a work of love that only you can do. You have received gifts in Baptism and Confirmation through which God intends his love to reach others. The Called and Gifted process is an opportunity to start to recognize your charisms (spiritual gifts) and begin to discern God’s call.
Called and Gifted has three stages. The first stage is a teaching day. It explains the Church’s teaching on the role of the laity and the parish in the mission of the Church to the world. It discusses the critical role of charisms in our life and service of others, and the signs and characteristics of 23 common charisms. This usually takes place on a Saturday, between about 9am and 4.30pm in a parish.        The second stage is a private discernment Conversation with a trained member of the team, which will help you recognise patterns in your life that might indicate the presence of a charism The third stage is meeting three times in a small discernment group, following a process to look in detail at using one charism in your everyday life. Usually there about 5 people in the group.  All parishioners will then meet together at the end, with their parish priest and perhaps members of a Parish Council or Evangelisation Strategy Team, to share experiences and confirmed charisms, and look at how the community can support each person in using their charisms in their everyday life as well as for the mission of the Church.
